Vice President of Community Engagement and
Chief Foundation Officer


Tom Bannon has been the vice president for community engagement and chief foundation officer at Community Hospital Anderson since 2015. As VP for community engagement, he is responsible for volunteer services and outreach health advocacy, which includes fitness/sports instruction, maternal/child educational support services, diabetes education, and the CHA Farm. He also provides senior leadership for the marketing and communications efforts in the Anderson region. The CHA Foundation supports the hospital’s mission, provides resources that help meet the needs of our caregivers, and promotes a healthy community.

Tom earned his Doctor of Public Health from Indiana University in 2022. He has an MBA from Anderson University and a BS from Indiana State University. He is a graduate of Pendleton Heights High School.

Before coming to Community Anderson, Tom served as the executive director of the Madison County Visitors Bureau. During that time, Tom established a strong connection to the Community Hospital Anderson Foundation by serving on the board of directors. From 1994-2007 he served as vice president of operations and communications for Hoosier Park.

Prior to his time at Hoosier Park, Tom held various positions in the world of sports, including stints with the Indiana Pacers, and minor league baseball teams in Bakersfield, California (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers), Reno, Nevada (affiliate of the Oakland A’s), and Riverside, California (affiliate of the Seattle Mariners). He has also consulted with numerous companies and non-profit organizations.

Tom has served on numerous boards for organizations in the community, including terms as president of the boards for Alternatives Inc., Anderson Symphony Orchestra, CASA, Hopewell Center, Outfitters, Paramount Theatre, and the Rotary Club of Anderson, as well as being Sakima District chair for the Boy Scouts of America and chair of the United Way of Madison County’s annual campaign. He has also served on the boards for the Anderson Museum of Art, Anderson Young Ballet Theatre, Leadership Academy of Madison County, Madison County Chamber, Madison County Community Health Center, and the United Way of Madison County.

Tom has received numerous accolades for his work and community efforts. He was recognized by the Indiana Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America for having the best ongoing media relations program for his work with the grand opening of Hoosier Park. He has also been honored with the Elmo Funk Ideal of Service Award by the Rotary Club of Anderson, the Community Impact Award by the Madison County Chamber, and the Servant Leader Award from the Leadership Academy of Madison County. He received the Dean’s Public Health Impact Award from the Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University in 2022.

Tom resides in Anderson with his wife, Jessica, who is a registered nurse at Community Anderson. He has two sons.
